IIM Ahmedabad ties up with Harvard Business School to train tax officials

Wednesday, July 23, 2014

IIM Ahmedabad has tied up with Harvard Business School (HBS) present a four-week executive education course to provide training to seniors officials in the Income Tax Department.
The officials will spend two weeks in IIMA campus and two weeks at HSB campus under the programme. The programme aims at making the leaders more citizen-centric and understand change management in a large organization. The programme provides the leaders with skills and perspectives of a leader of a public enterprise.
“One of our key strategic priorities is to connect – with the private sector, but also with public sector institutions, and with internationally renowned business schools. As a Management Institution, we are committed to working with, and learning from, practitioners in a range of sectors, including the public sector. In fact, the public sector might be one area where we can have the most impact at present. Our senior government officials are confronted with gargantuan challenges of implementation that require the best of leadership and change management skills. We hope that this engagement – working with Harvard Business School to design and deliver an outstanding program to senior leaders in the Department of Income Tax tailored to their needs and circumstances – is the harbinger of many more similar projects with public sector organizations,” said Ashish Nanda, IIMA director Professor in an exclusive interview.
The new initiative of IIMA is a step in direction of widening its horizons of Executive Education Programs, working not only with private sector but also contributing closely to public sector.
